"This sadra speaks of the One, eternal and infinite..."

When Meher Mount received the gift of a sadra worn by Avatar Meher Baba, Sam L. Ervin, board president, was moved to write the following poem.

A sadra (also sadhra) is a thin muslin shirt traditionally worn by Zoroastrians. Meher Baba adapted the sadra into an ankle-length garment which He regularly wore.

“Sadra of Beloved Avatar Meher Baba”

Avatar of the Age Meher Baba wore this sadra.

His breath rose and fell in it.
He lived and moved in it.
This simple muslin garment,
with its slight sweat stains around the neck, exudes
His Being and His Presence,
His daily living,
His depthless Silence
His unconditional Love,
His Compassion,
His Play in His creation,
His Work,
His Suffering,
His Grace, showered upon the universe.

This sadra speaks of the One,
eternal and infinite, taking human form
for a Love beyond conception.
